About Walter & Judy Schultz
Walter and Judy started the Two Step Tidewater Virginia group (No membership or
dues EVER) when 4 couples, who were cross-over ballroom and C&W dancers wanted a
place to dance - other than the smoke-filled night clubs, with a tiny dance
floor overflowing with drunks and/or line dancers. They rented a small
dance studio, which was closed (and cheap) on Sunday Nights.
When we hit over 90 dancers
on the dance floor on Sunday evenings, we were forced to move.
We have moved to a larger studio, with more air
conditioning capacity, at DanceSportVA dance studio. We host a social dance each week where
couples can dance to Latin (Cha Cha, Rumba, Bolero, Samba, Meringues), Ballroom
(Waltz, Foxtrot Quickstep), Swing (East Coast Swing and West Coast Swing and
Disco Hustle) and Country-Western music (Cowboy Cha, Two Step, Barn Dance,
Night-club Two Step, Cowboy Waltz, Country Polka). ~~ About
"DanceSportVA VA" - This studio is located in Virginia Beach, VA on Arrowhead Drive between Princess
Anne and Newtown Rd. From the Expressway take an exit onto Newtown Road South,
turn left on Princess Anne then Right onto Arrowhead just past Big Al's muffler.
The parking lot is not large but there are plenty of nearby business with
parking room at night and on Sundays.

area to have fun Country and Western partner dancing without
having to fight the line-dancers for space on the dance floor, peer through
smoke-filled rooms, or put up with the typical bar room environment.
Just good, clean fun with C&W dancing, Ballroom Dancing, and willing dancing partners.
Walter and Judy Schultz, our hosts, are NOT professionals, they are just great dancers who
wanted to do something for the C&W couple dance scene in Tidewater VA, by
creating an atmosphere where C&W, Ballroom, Swing-dancers, West Coast Swing dancers, and
even Shaggers could get together and enjoy a great mix of dancing fun.
For those of you who have not made it to our dance. Each Sunday night we rent a Ballroom studio, DanceSportVA dance studio in Virginia Beach where we hold or Sunday Night Social Dance. This weekly social dance is a place where couples can dance to Latin, Ballroom, Swing and Country-Western music. ~~ About "DanceSportVA" - This studio is located on Arrowhead Drive between Princess Anne and Newtown Rd (Click here for a map).

Take I 64 and the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel into Southside Virginia. Travel East on I64. As you approach the I24 exchange you will need to move toward the right lanes. The far right bears off toward Norfolk and the Ocean Front. You will need to continue up the overpass and exit at the Newtown Road Access Ramp onto I-264. Once on the Interstate 264 Expressway take the first exit onto Newtown Road (South), turn left on Princess Anne Rd. (or Kempsville Rd, depending on which map you are looking at - they change names at that intersection).
If heavy traffic is expected at the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel and Alternate route from the Peninsula Virginia area is I-664 and the Monitor-Merrimac Bridge Tunnel. You then stay on I-664 to it's intersection with I-64 and head West. (Compass Direction is East. Highways signs are showing West)
From Virginia
Beach VA, Chesapeake VA, and Norfolk VA, Take I 264
(The Virginia Beach
Expressway) to the Newtown Rd Exit. There is only one Newtown Rd exit from
the beach - there are two different exits from Norfolk Virginia, Chesapeake VA,
Suffolk VA, Hampton VA, Newport News VA, or Portsmouth VA. Go (East) on Princess Anne Rd. one block,
then turn right onto Arrowhead just past Big Al's muffler.

The studio has a large (3000 sq ft) dance floor as well as a separate smaller
(2000 sq ft) dance floor. It is a very clean, well maintained studio. They also
have dance shoes and apparel for sale. They have a very good Air Conditioning/Heating
system. The DanceSportVA staff has been very supportive of us and will make
everyone feel welcome. We have been assured that we can have Sunday night
without interruption throughout the year.
We hope everyone who has enjoyed the social dance on Sunday will continue to
attend. We will do everything we can to make this transition as smooth as
possible.

like when full of dancers).
The studio has a great Maple wood dance floor that is never too fast
or slow. The studio is clean and comfortable with good acoustics and a smoke
free ballroom. We start out with a beginner lesson at 6:30. The lesson is on a
different dance each week and lasts for 1/2 hour. Each
month we pick a different dance and teach it all month. The dancers who attend
are friendly and try to make newcomers welcome. We provide some nice snacks,
munchies and drink FREE. We also
put out some chips & dip, cookies, sodas and a bowl of lemonade. We try to use only popular
music and rotate the play list each week. As amateur dancers Judy and I do our
best to make everyone comfortable and enjoy the night out.
The Two Step Tidewater Virginia Dance is a healthy, kid-friendly dancing environment for dancing kids. In Country and Western dancing, many young people start dancing in their pre-teen or teen years. Several of our dancers bring their children to the Two Step Tidewater Virginia events to dance. (To dance, we DON'T do babysitting.) It is virtually impossible to find an environment which is conducive to introducing your youthful dancers to dancing in a social environment. At Two Step Tidewater Virginia, kids get asked to dance, as often as the adults. For more information, and to see some world champion Country and Western teen and preteen dancers' photographs, take a look at some of the adolescent dancers, teen-age dancers, and pre-teen dancers' pictures at the Country and Western Teenager Dance Page
