His life really WAS transformed when he learned to dance. This meek, socially awkward young man really did gain a self confidence which he never knew before he learned to dance. I know it sounds trite because we've heard self confidence as a sales pitch, but the young  Aurthur Murray's experience was fresh, vivid and profound, and he never lost his genuine fervor for damcing.

But, we all have to learn to walk, before we can dance...

Is Your Dancing Looking Awkward?

Do you sometimes feel a little awkward on the dance floor? Try walking instead!

Almost every dancer at any level can walk. When you are new to dancing your walking is more graceful than your dancing (Speaking from experience here) Once you become a better dancer we hope the opposite is true.

We find one way to help learn a pattern is to not dance it. Simply walk it through. To learn a new rhythm,  dance it in place.

Dancing is a sum of many parts. Eliminate a few and it becomes easier. Once something gets better add something else back in.

Judy and I find that when we are learning a new pattern we break it down in measures of music. If learning a Waltz pattern we dance three steps and stop. We always start from the same position and check our stopping position repeatedly before moving on. Once we have the footwork learned we work on making it look better.

This is called practice and leads to better dancing. Don't run until you have learned to walk!

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.  Let's Dance!

Practice the easy way at our Friday and Sunday night dance. We couldn't think of a better way to reinforce those lessons!  Come early, and you can get a half-hour of whole-floor practice, while we are getting ready for the dance lesson.  After the dance, we don't mind if you hang around and practice while we clean up and close up the studio.
