Odds and Ends for this week's dance action in Tidewater

Hello Dancers... From our Weekly Newsletter

***********************************

Hello Dancers,

Thanks to all the dancers who came out to visit and dance last Sunday, We
hope that the several visiting dancers enjoyed the night. The pair of
Two-Step lessons gave everyone enough moves and technique to keep busy until
next Sunday when we continue with the Two-Step series. Please dress cool if
you are coming. The sun blasting in the front windows warms the studio up
past the capacity of the two air conditioners. We will bring in yet another
fan next week.

This week's song is, in keeping with our favorite dance, Country Two-Step.
The song, "You Ain't in it" by Diamond Rio will also be noticed by all the
teachers on my email list. I picked up this song after winning the CD "Love
a little Stronger" in a contest by a local DJ. It's a pretty good album and
has a couple of the early songs by Diamond Rio that were much better for
dancing. Also check out another popular Two-Step by Diamond Rio, "Norma Jean
Riley" I don't have it but love to Two-Step to it. If you like Triple-Two,
the song "Bubba Hyde" is also a great dance song.
If you like good dance music come out and visit this Sunday ay "A Time to
Dance"
**********************************************
The Web site that I like the best this week is the national USABDA site
found at http://usabda.org It takes a little work, as in most sites, to look
at everything but there is information on the site for most Ballroom
dancers. If you are into Country, Swing and Latin you have to look elsewhere
but I found some pretty good information on Ballroom Dancing from both a
social and competition viewpoint.

Slow Dancing:
Easy? Don't bet on it! If you think you have good dance frame, control of
your energy and all that stuff try out a painfully slow Waltz. This is a
good way to find out how much control you actually have. I have a tough time
with practicing slow but also use another technique that's easier and good
for practice also. I call it dancing small. I try to see just how small I
can make my steps and still be moving. (I think you can just shift weight
and still consider it dancing. It just doesn't get you anywhere). Seriously,
it seems to me that to practice slow and small will make you think about
where each foot falls and allow time to pay attention to details. Try it
sometime.

OUR POLICY: Webmasters; You are granted permission to copy any content from our web site, provided that you provide a link to http://www.twosteptidewater.com (Contact us by email if you would like a reciprocal link). We are always looking for ways to make Two Step Tidewater Virginia THE PLACE for dance information in the Tidewater area (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Portsmouth, Newport News, Hampton Roads, Yorktown, Gloucester, and Williamsburg) - and for other dance events or dance locations which are of interest to Tidewater area dancers.  We prefer to exchange links with other dance-information sites.  To add a dance link, or exchange links with your web pages, email Will Harper or Walter Schultz.  Worthy dance events, may post to our web site by emailing a cut-and-paste ready announcement.  Your announcement can be just a text announcement or even a full web page.  We will host an ongoing web page, at no cost, for Tidewater Area dance-related activities, without their own web page.  Be sure to include date, time, cost, contact and location information for your event.  In exchange, we ask that anyone posting to our site, include a reference to http://www.twosteptidewater.com on your site and/or in your intra-group's mailing list emails.  (Not just C&W. We'll  include Ballroom, Swing, WCS, Disco, Folk, or just churches or other clubs with dances.)  We will attempt to post/remove events within a couple of days - but we cannot accept responsibility for missing an event or any other reason.  We will attempt to verify ALL links, to prevent any offensive or off-topic links, but, again, cannot be responsible for other's.
